Bio Gold is the most concentrated expression of what we believe about skin: that it is a lipid organ, and that the best thing you can do for it is give back — in forms it already recognises — what age, weather, and time remove. Golden jojoba (sebum-mimetic wax esters) and olive squalane are the structural backbone. Meadowfoam and prickly pear deliver oxidative stability and γ-tocopherol. Sea buckthorn CO₂ brings omega-7. Natural 99% bakuchiol — a botanical active extracted from babchi (Psoralea corylifolia) seeds — supports skin firmness and clarity over weeks of use, with a tolerability profile that suits daily application.

Why this product exists

We built Bio Gold as the answer to a specific question the ingredient-literate customer keeps asking: what does a serum look like that does not rely on silicones to feel good, does not rely on mineral oil to occlude, does not rely on seed oils that oxidise on the skin, and does not rely on a patented peptide complex whose evidence base is thin? The answer is in the nine ingredients on the label. No hidden fragrance. No hidden preservation. Water-free, because water-free needs no preservation system. Nine ingredients — every one you can defend at an ingredient-literate dinner party.

Ingredients

  • Golden Jojoba Oil (unrefined) 0% Approved — First-press, unrefined. Retains phytosterols and tocopherols that refinement removes. Wax-ester structure is a close match to human sebum — the skin recognises this as "skin lipid".
  • Olive Squalane 0% Approved — Structurally matches a lipid the skin already makes, so it integrates into the lipid film rather than sitting on top. Olive-derived, not sugarcane — a cleaner provenance story.
  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil (unrefined) 0% Approved — The most oxidatively stable botanical oil in the formula. The reason Bio Gold is preservative-free.
  • Prickly Pear Seed Oil (unrefined) 0% Approved — 1 kg of oil from 1 tonne of fruit — an unusually rare ingredient. ~60% linoleic acid, 403 mg/kg vitamin E (γ-tocopherol).
  • MCT Oil (C8/C10) 0% Approved — Base oil. Fast-absorbing, odourless, stable.
  • Sea Buckthorn CO₂ 0% Approved — Omega-7 palmitoleic acid. Documented to stimulate re-epithelialisation and improve skin moisture and elasticity in human studies.
  • Natural Bakuchiol (99%) 0% Approved — A botanical active extracted from babchi (Psoralea corylifolia) seeds. Peer-reviewed work documents improvements in fine lines, firmness, and tone with twice-daily use. Well-tolerated for morning and evening application; no sun-exposure restriction.
  • d-alpha Tocopherol 0% Approved — Natural vitamin E. Protects the formula's oxidative stability and contributes its own antioxidant behaviour on the skin.
  • Bergamot Essential Oil 0% Approved — Steam distilled, bergapten-free. Bright top note.
  • Geranium Essential Oil 0% Approved — Steam distilled. Floral middle; mild antimicrobial.
  • Rosemary Essential Oil 0% Approved — Steam distilled. Herbal lift; mild antioxidant. Each oil present in trace amounts — measured in drops. Very light scent that fades in 30–45 minutes.

How to use

  1. Apply 1–2 pumps to cleansed skin (morning or evening; we use it evening).
  2. Massage into face and neck until absorbed.
  3. Can be used alone or before SPF (morning) or as the last step (evening).
  4. One bottle is approximately 10–12 weeks of evening use.

What to expect

Week 1: skin feels softer, more even. Weeks 2–4: fine lines appear less pronounced, texture improves. Weeks 8–12: the cumulative benefits of bakuchiol become visible — uneven tone softens, firmness improves, skin clarity advances. This is a compounding product; the longer you use it, the better it works.

FAQ

Is Bio Gold available now?
Yes. Bio Gold ships from our current inventory. Free Thailand shipping.

How does it compare to Augustinus Bader The Serum?
Different formulation philosophy. Augustinus Bader is a peptide-led, water-based serum with a 36-ingredient label. Bio Gold is a lipid-led, water-free serum with a 9-ingredient label. Both are well-made; only Bio Gold is built without industrial seed oils, silicones, or petroleum derivatives.

Can I layer this with the actives I already use?
Yes. Bio Gold is a lipid-led serum, so it layers cleanly with most water-based actives. If you're using something particularly active, apply Bio Gold last so it seals everything in.

Is the formula friendly to sensitive skin?
Bio Gold is formulated without the ingredients that most commonly drive sensitivity flags — no synthetic fragrance, no preservatives (it’s water-free, so none are needed), no industrial seed oils, no silicones. As with any new topical, patch test first; for specific medical concerns, consult your doctor.

How is it different from Biossance Squalane + Rose Oil?
Biossance's product is primarily sugarcane squalane with a small rose oil addition. Bio Gold is nine ingredients deep, uses olive-derived squalane, and includes bakuchiol as the active — a materially deeper formulation.

Pairs with: Bio Clean (paired cleanser), Bio Glide + Bio Recovery (shave), PrimalDent.

EVERY INGREDIENT, EXPLAINED

What's in the bottle

  • Golden Jojoba Oil (unrefined)Sebum-mimetic carrier

    INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil

First-press, unrefined, retains phytosterols and tocopherols that refinement removes. Wax-ester structure is a close match to human sebum — the skin recognises this as 'skin lipid' rather than occluding against it. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax, not an oil, and its ~98% long-chain wax ester structure gives it a stability and skin-recognition profile nothing else in the kingdom matches.

Sourcing: First-press, unrefined. Not cosmetic-grade refined.

  • Olive SqualaneBio-identical skin lipid

    INCI: Squalane

Bio-identical to the squalene your sebaceous glands already produce, olive squalane integrates into the skin's lipid film rather than sitting on top of it. It does not oxidise meaningfully at skin temperatures or under normal light exposure. The olive-derived version (rather than the sugarcane-fermented one used by Biossance) has a cleaner provenance story and performs identically in the formula.

    Sourcing: Olive-derived, not sugarcane-fermented.

  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil (unrefined)Stability anchor

    INCI: Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil

The most oxidatively stable botanical oil routinely available. Approximately 95% of its fatty-acid profile is long-chain (C20 and above), with unsaturations at the ∆5 position rather than the more common ∆9 or ∆12. That geometric detail is why meadowfoam resists oxidation not only by its own chemistry but extends the stability of other oils it is blended with. The reason Bio Gold is preservative-free.

    Sourcing: Unrefined, cold-pressed.

  • Prickly Pear Seed Oil (unrefined)Antioxidant concentrate

    INCI: Opuntia Ficus-Indica Seed Oil

The most expensive oil in Bio Gold — a kilo of oil requires a tonne of fruit. It is included for two reasons: it is unusually rich in γ-tocopherol (about 150% the tocopherol content of argan oil, 403 mg/kg), and it carries a small linoleic acid fraction (~60%) offset by the tocopherol and phytosterol content that stabilises it. The ratio matters — prickly pear is oxidatively stable as delivered.

Sourcing: Cold-pressed from Moroccan or Tunisian harvests.

  • MCT Oil (C8/C10)Base carrier oil

    INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Fractionated medium-chain triglyceride — fast-absorbing, odourless, and exceptionally stable. Pulled from coconut, refined to isolate the C8 (caprylic) and C10 (capric) chains. Base oil of the formulation — its tactile smoothness and rapid absorption are why Bio Gold feels like a serum rather than an oil despite being entirely lipid-based.

    Sourcing: Coconut-derived, fractionated.

  • Sea Buckthorn CO₂ ExtractOmega-7 source

    INCI: Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract

Our source of omega-7 palmitoleic acid — a documented driver of re-epithelialisation, the process by which keratinocytes migrate across compromised skin to rebuild barrier function. The CO₂ extraction method preserves the carotenoids and phytosterols that degrade under solvent or hot-press extraction. Human studies have documented improvements in skin moisture and elasticity with consistent omega-7 application.

Sourcing: CO₂-extracted, not solvent or hot-press.

  • Natural Bakuchiol (99%)Retinol-equivalent active

    INCI: Bakuchiol (Psoralea Corylifolia)

The functional analog of retinol. In Dhaliwal et al. (British Journal of Dermatology, 2019), 0.5% bakuchiol delivered improvements in fine lines, firmness, and photodamage comparable to 0.5% retinol — with materially better tolerability. Unlike retinol, bakuchiol does not cause photosensitivity, does not carry pregnancy warnings, and does not require a tolerance ramp. The 99% purity version used here is extracted from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia.

    Sourcing: 99%+ purity, seed-extracted.

  • d-alpha TocopherolAntioxidant (vitamin E)

    INCI: Tocopherol

Natural vitamin E (d-alpha is the naturally occurring stereoisomer, as opposed to the synthetic dl-alpha). Protects the formula's oxidative stability in the bottle and contributes its own antioxidant behaviour on the skin. Works in combination with the tocopherol fraction of prickly pear to give Bio Gold a multi-pathway antioxidant profile without synthetic preservatives.

Sourcing: Natural d-alpha, not synthetic dl-alpha.

  • Essential Oil Blend (Bergamot, Geranium, Rosemary)Light natural scent

INCI: Bergamot Peel Oil, Geranium Flower Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil

Measured in drops. A very light scent that fades in 30–45 minutes — Bio Gold is not a fragrance product. The three oils were selected for their low sensitising profile and for the way their molecular weights balance each other: bergamot is the top note, geranium is the heart, rosemary is the base. No synthetic fragrance; each oil is listed on the label.

Sourcing: Each oil individually listed. No bergaptene (reformulated bergamot).

How to use

  1. Apply 1–2 pumps to cleansed skin (morning or evening; we use it evening).
  2. Massage into face and neck until absorbed.
  3. Can be used alone or before SPF (morning) / as last step (evening).
  4. One bottle is approximately 10–12 weeks of evening use.

THE TIMELINE

What to expect

Week 1: skin feels softer, more even.

Weeks 2–4: fine lines appear less pronounced. Texture improves.

Weeks 8–12: the retinoid-equivalent benefits of bakuchiol become visible — photodamage softens, firmness improves, skin tone evens out.

This is a compounding product; the longer you use it, the better it works.
